In this episode, we welcome Steven Collens, CEO of MATTER, one of the world’s leading healthcare incubators and innovation hubs. Under Steven’s leadership, MATTER has supported more than 1,000 healthcare startups, helping innovators move faster, collaborate more effectively, and significantly improve their chances of success.
MATTER works at the intersection of entrepreneurship and healthcare, offering an accelerator-as-a-service model to health systems, life sciences companies, payers, and foundations looking to build meaningful partnerships with startups. The organization also collaborates directly with established companies to help them innovate more effectively in a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.
Before founding MATTER in 2015, Steven served as Senior Vice President at Pritzker Group, where he led the team that created 1871, Chicago’s digital startup hub—named the top-ranked business incubator in the world in 2018. Earlier in his career, he held multiple domestic and international roles at Abbott, spanning product management, policy, and public affairs, and also served as a legislative assistant to U.S. Senator Carol Moseley-Braun.
