With over 28 years of experience in clinical research, Dr. Manolo Beelke is a distinguished professional renowned for his contributions to Neurology, Psychiatry, and Sleep Medicine. His career encompasses leadership roles across Pharma, Biotech, and CRO environments at local, regional, and global levels.
Dr. Beelke’s expertise spans the full spectrum of Clinical Development and Medical Affairs, including Phases I to IV, interventional and non-interventional studies, PASS, registry trials, epidemiological research, and surveys. He has designed more than 60 clinical trials, provided medical oversight for over 100 trials, and reviewed more than 500 study proposals, demonstrating unparalleled breadth and depth in the field.
As a former academic researcher for seven years, Dr. Beelke authored over 40 peer-reviewed articles and served as a peer-reviewer for several leading publications. A recognized speaker, he has shared his insights at numerous conferences in Sleep Medicine, Multiple Sclerosis, and life-cycle management.
Currently, Dr. Beelke operates as an independent consultant and entrepreneur, developing Clinical Development Strategies for cannabinoids, biosimilars, generic drugs, small molecules, and biologics. Notably, he guided a CRO through restructuring and repositioning following multiple mergers and acquisitions.
Dr. Beelke has also held pivotal roles as Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at Immungenetics and Verum.de, where he led medical strategies, contributed to company growth, and enhanced operational efficiency. His leadership capabilities are further evidenced by his success in managing matrix-structured teams, motivating them through challenges, and building Medical Affairs units from the ground up.
In addition to his consultancy and leadership roles, Dr. Beelke has advised pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device companies, as well as investors, on medical and strategic matters. His guidance has facilitated acquisitions, identified high-value compounds and devices, and strengthened customer relationships for CROs.
Dr. Beelke holds an MD from the University of Genoa, Italy, and a PhD in Sleep Medicine from the University of Bologna, Italy. He is board-certified as a Clinical Neurophysiologist and an expert in Sleep Medicine. A polyglot, he is fluent in German, Italian, and English, with colloquial proficiency in French and basic knowledge of Spanish.
